Like most writers and editors on sites similar to this, I have loved words – writing and reading – ever since I was a child. I wrote my first poem at age eight, won the school literary award for a short story in sixth grade, and walked away with the Creative Writing Prize at my high school graduation. One of my plays was produced at the Lyric Stage in Boston during my senior year at Wellesley College (B.A. 1977). I came within an ink stroke of having my first screenplay picked up by Paramount Studios in 1979. In 1981, under the throes of alcoholism, I got sober at the age of twenty-six and swore off writing because I didn’t think I could write without booze.

Then came a forty-year block during which I attended Yale Divinity School (M.A.R. 1986) I taught high school and college English for twenty-five years, raised three children and worked sporadically on small, ghostwriting projects. It wasn’t until 2015, after my husband recovered from a near-death experience, that the block to my writing was removed.

In the past decade, I have published three novels (a fourth is due for release in May 2025) two poetry chapbooks and a memoir; adapted novels to screen and have been involved in the developmental stages of other television and film projects; launched the You-Tube series “Free to Write: bust the blocks that keep you stuck”; served as an Assistant Editor for the award-winning Awakenings Review and written a quarterly motivational column for Lakeside Living magazine.

I have self-published, hybrid published, and published traditionally. I have educated myself regarding the craft of writing and the business of publishing, by attending conferences, workshops, and webinars. I have learned how to query agents, target agents and publishers, identify and query podcasts (and have been a guest on many), host a launch party and much, much more.

Which is why I ultimately decided to form Lion’s Tooth Literary Services LLC. If writing and finishing a book, getting it published and marketed, seems daunting to you, it needn’t. As I said – been there. Done that. I can help you along the way.

The most important thing: “If a story is in you, it has to come out.” William Faulkner. I would like to help you manifest your dream as I have manifested mine.
